Unified Carrier Registration (UCR)

Stay compliant, avoid penalties and keep your fleet moving with a fast and accurate filing process.

Your Trusted Compliance Partner

Running an interstate operation means carrying a stack of federal obligations that never really ends. A UCR that renews every year. An MCS-150 that comes due every twenty-four months. A random testing pool that has to stay compliant every quarter.

Miss any one of them and the consequence is the same — a truck sitting at a scale house instead of moving freight. We track what’s due, prepare the filings, submit them, and confirm they posted.

What we keep current for you

  • ✓UCR registration and annual renewal
  • ✓MCS-150 biennial and change filings
  • ✓USDOT number and operating authority
  • ✓Random drug and alcohol testing pool
  • ✓FMCSA Clearinghouse queries and reporting

What is UCR registration?

The Unified Carrier Registration program was created under the UCR Act of 2005 and replaced the old Single State Registration System. It's an annual, federally mandated filing for any business operating in interstate commerce, and the money it collects funds state highway safety programs and motor carrier enforcement.

One point worth clearing up: UCR is not a permit. There's no card to keep in the cab and no sticker for the door. What you're paying for is an active record in a national database that state enforcement officers can pull up in seconds at a weigh station. If the record isn't there, the inspection doesn't go well.

Who has to register

  • ✓Motor carriers hauling freight or passengers across state lines
  • ✓Private carriers moving their own goods interstate
  • ✓Freight forwarders
  • ✓Brokers
  • ✓Leasing companies

Base state matters less than people think. If your principal place of business sits in a state that doesn't participate in the UCR agreement, you don't get a pass — you file through the nearest participating state instead.

2027 fee schedule

BracketCommercial motor vehiclesCarrier / freight forwarderBroker / leasing company
B10 – 2$149$149
B23 – 5$275.23—
B36 – 20$499—

Your fee bracket is drawn from the vehicle count on your most recent MCS-150 — which is exactly why an outdated MCS-150 so often produces the wrong UCR invoice. We reconcile both records so they agree.

Why carriers choose DOT Global CMS

Plenty of sites will tell you what a form is. We prepare it, submit it, and send you the confirmation.

One record, every requirement

UCR, MCS-150, authority and your testing program tracked against a single carrier profile, so nothing falls into the gap between vendors.

Deadlines tracked for you

We know when your biennial update lands and when the UCR window opens. You get a reminder before it matters, not an invoice after it doesn't.

Accuracy before speed

We verify your fleet count and carrier data before filing. A fast filing with the wrong numbers is worse than no filing at all.

Real people on the phone

Compliance questions are rarely generic. Our specialists answer them directly, in plain English, without a menu tree.

Transparent pricing

Government fees and our service fee are itemized separately before you pay. No bundled totals, no surprise line items.

Audit-ready documentation

Every filing, selection and query is retained in the format an FMCSA investigator will ask for, for as long as the rules require.

Three steps to compliant

1

Enter your USDOT number

We pull your FMCSA record and show you what's active, what's expiring and what's already overdue.

2

Confirm your details

A specialist reviews your fleet count, operation type and classifications so the filing reflects your actual operation.

3

We file and confirm

Your submission goes in, we verify it posted, and your digital confirmation lands in your inbox the same business day.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. If you cross state lines in interstate commerce, the requirement applies regardless of how many trucks you run. A single-truck operator files in the lowest fee bracket, but the filing itself isn't optional.
